Spiritual Life

GlenWood Park Retirement Village has focused on faith throughout its history. In the 1950s Methodists in the West Virginia Annual Conference first began to develop the idea for an older adult ministry, and from the time the doors opened in 1968 GlenWood’s goal has been to serve others as Jesus did. Today GlenWood remains West Virginia’s only spiritually-based continuing care retirement community. The beautiful chapel located near the main entrance has served as the site not only for church services but also funerals, memorial services and weddings. Even beyond the chapel, GlenWood’s peaceful and picturesque setting provides the ideal backdrop for a retirement community that emphasizes wholeness – emotionally, physically and spiritually.

GlenWood’s ecumenical spiritual life program includes Sunday school, bible study, and weekly chapel services guided by the Village’s Pastor, Rev. Ken Price, who is also the pastor at Carr Memorial United Methodist Church in Princeton. He offers pastoral visitation and counseling to associates, families and residents in all levels of care. A spiritual life committee made up of elected residents serves as a support group to the pastor.

Worship Services

Every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. a worship service is held in GlenWood Park’s Chapel. All residents and family members are invited. The worship service is televised throughout our village for those who are not physically able to attend but wish to view the service.

Rev. Price secures speakers for the worship service from clergy in our community. All denominations are encouraged to participate and we welcome volunteers to play piano as well as provide the sermon.

For more information on our worship services, please contact Rev. Price.

You can purchase two vases of flowers for GlenWood's weekly chapel service in honor or in memory of a loved one for only $10.60.
All you do is:
  1. Check with Rev. Price or Angel Clemons at (304) 425-8128 to see the available weeks.
  2. Reserve the date by giving your name and the name of the person honored/remembered.
  3. Write a check for $10.60 to GlenWood Park Spiritual Life Committee.
  4. Mail your check to Glenwood Park, Inc. Attn: Angel Clemons, 1924 Glenwood Park Road, Princeton, West Virginia 24739.

Bible Study

A men's bible study group meets every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in GlenWood Park's atrium. Here they worship, study the word of God and have fellowship. Doug Day, from Bluefield Nazarene Church on Stadium Drive, has led the group for the past four years and welcomes all men into the group.

For more information about our men's bible study, contact Doug Day at (304) 325-6594 or Amanda Faidley at (304) 425-8128, ext.369.

Sunday School

At 9:30 a.m. every Sunday morning, you can join us in GlenWood Park’s Chapel for Sunday school taught by volunteers in our community. All denominations are encouraged to participate and we welcome volunteers to play piano and lead the class.

For more information about Sunday School, please contact Rev. Price
