Residents of GlenWood Park
Retirement Village
have a broad range of services and activities to
choose from that promote their physical,
emotional and spiritual well-being. |
|
Meals

 |
|
The fee in all levels of care
includes three meals a day plus snacks.
Independent living residents can come to the
dining room in the main building (see photos)
for all three meals, or take groceries from the
dietary department back to their apartment or
townhouse and do some of their own cooking if
they wish. Residents may also choose a food
waiver and receive a reduction in their monthly
charge. Menus are prepared under the guidance of
a registered dietitian, and special diets are
planned in accordance with physicians’ orders.
GlenWood’s meal service is provided by Aladdin
Food Management Services, Inc. of Wheeling, WV. |
|
Transportation |
|
Scheduled transportation is
provided with some restrictions. Certified
nursing assistants and activities coordinators
transport residents to physician appointments,
shopping and special events. |
|
Medical Care |
|
Limited nursing services are
provided in independent and assisted living.
Help with activities of daily living is also
available in assisted living, such as bathing,
dressing, grooming, eating, toileting and
medication administration. GlenWood’s health
care unit includes both nursing home and skilled
nursing services for those who need observation
or continuous medical nursing care.
GlenWood’s medical director is
Dr. Charles J. Mirabile, a Princeton physician
who specializes in geriatrics. He is one of only
a few medical practitioners in West Virginia
credentialed by the American Medical Directors
Association as a certified medical director. He
visits GlenWood to check on residents nearly
every day. If residents choose Dr. Mirabile as
their physician in addition to the dentist and
podiatrist who also visit GlenWood regularly,
appointments can be scheduled and the resident
can receive these services without leaving the
facility. |
|
Respite Care |
|
Caregivers who need to find
temporary accommodations for their loved ones
can bring them to assisted living at GlenWood
for several days or weeks at a time. Respite
care residents receive all of the same services
as those in assisted living who have made
GlenWood their permanent home. |
|
Housekeeping |
|
The fee in all levels of care
includes weekly housekeeping with more frequent
attention provided if necessary. Residents in
assisted living also receive full laundry
service as part of their fee, and those in
health care can receive the service for an
additional charge. |
|
Maintenance |
|
A full-time maintenance staff is
on duty to take care of needs inside buildings
and outdoors for residents in independent
living, assisted living and health care. |
|
Spiritual Life |
Rehabilitation |
|
GlenWood’s
ecumenical spiritual life program includes
Sunday School and weekly chapel services guided
by a spiritual life committee made up of elected
residents and the Village’s pastor, Rev. Nancy
Cale, an ordained United Methodist elder. The
program offers pastoral visitation and
counseling to associates, families and residents
in all levels of care. |
Full-time
physical, occupational and speech therapies help
residents in all levels of care regain and
maintain their highest possible level of
independence. The program is provided by
Summit Care. |
