The GWP Foundation, Inc. was
organized in 2003 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to
act as the recipient of deferred gifts for the benefit of
GlenWood Park Retirement Village. Tax-deductible
contributions may be made to the Foundation in memory or in
honor of individuals. The focus of the Foundation is on
planned gifts made through such instruments as wills,
estates, trusts, annuities, retirement plans, and life
insurance policies.
The Foundation is managed by a
board of directors made up of clergy and laypersons from
throughout West Virginia and southwestern Virginia
representing a variety of denominations and occupations. The
board will eventually consist of 24 directors, each serving
for a period of four years.
Gifts to the Foundation are
being used to build an endowment that will help secure the
future of the ministry provided by GlenWood Park Retirement
Village. In addition, gifts to the Foundation may be used to
help cover specific costs at GlenWood, such as capital needs
or requests for benevolent care. The Board of Trustees for
GlenWood Park Retirement Village submits requests to the
Board of Directors of the Foundation for funds, and the
Foundation Board votes on each request.
The Foundation was blessed in
2004 with its first major gift. Mr. Jack M. Waldeck of
Huntington named GlenWood in his will as the beneficiary of
30 percent of his entire estate. His gift ultimately totaled
$191,815. “We are very grateful for his confidence and
support,” said Dr. Daniel W. Farley, President/CEO of
GlenWood Park Retirement Village and President of the GWP
Foundation. “While Jack never lived at GlenWood, he believed
in our ministry and his action provides an example for
others to follow.”
